This is our family and farm crew!
Owner/ Orchardist
Shane Lair
Shane Lair is the co-owner of Forest Cove Acres and the primary orchardist. Shane has spent over 20 years as a helicopter mechanic, now as Director of Maintenance, primarily working on powerline projects throughout the US. The shift to tree fruit farming was a welcome change and challenge allowing him to work alongside his family. Balancing on and off-farm work can be difficult, but the orchard is a welcome distraction. Shane enjoys Eastern Oregon for the opportunities to spend time outdoors: camping, fishing, and hunting. Watch for his incredible workmanship on the blog; he might focus on growing cherries, but he can also craft beautiful tables!
Owner/ Business and Social Media Manager
Erin Lair
Erin Lair is the dreamer, planner, and perpetual family cheerleader. While being quite risk-averse, Erin was the one who sparked the wild idea to buy the orchard. Most days Erin is in town working as the Superintendent at a local school district. She enjoys being able to manage the business operations of the farm and supporting Shane in learning the craft of orchard management. Erin loves putting literal roots down in Eastern Oregon and looks forward to hosting many gatherings at the orchard. Follow along as she narrates life at Forest Cove Acres on the blog.
Homestead Manager
Grandma Sue
Sue Lair, Shane's mom, is another face you will see around the orchard. She quickly becomes "grandma Sue" to just about every kid in town. Sue is a talented seamstress; you can watch for her creations to populate the "Homestead" product page. She is also a devoted gardener and looks forward to building up a variety of cut flowers and has plans for a sprawling produce garden.
Adventurers
The Girls
"The girls" are the Lair sisters, Audrey and Brooke. These two are perfect complements and are hard to find apart. Audrey, the older sister, has been called an animal whisperer. She is a deep and tender soul that loves fiercely- her humans and animals. Brooke, the younger sister, is all things silly and fun. She can make just about anyone smile when she dissolves into one of her infectious belly laughs. These two will likely be your welcome committee and tour guides when you visit the orchard.
